We are the Eta Omicron Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota.
Sigma Alpha Iota is an International Music Fraternity that was established on June 12, 1903. It was founded in Ann Arbour, Michigan at the University School of Music, by seven students and faculty.
Our founders are: Elizabeth Campbell, Frances Caspari, Minnie Davis Sherrill, Leila Farlin Laughlin, Nora Crane Hunt, Georgina Potts, and Mary Storrs Andersen.
This fraternity is dedicated to supporting and promoting the musical arts around the country. Currently we have 114 active alumnae chapters, and 228 active collegiate chapters spanning from California State University in Fullerton, to University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
The Eta Omicron Chapter is located at the University of Nevada, Reno and is part of Region 1, in the Delta B Providence. It was charted on April 23, 1989 and has continued to effect the lives of students and faculty alike, including professors that are alumnae of the Eta Omicron chapter. We currently have 25 members with 24 being Active in our chapter, with a number of Alumnae scattered throughout the university.
